Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Cheshire East is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. In this role, you will ensure that the voices of children are heard and their rights are upheld within the care system. You will play a crucial role in reviewing care plans, facilitating meetings, and providing guidance to social workers and foster carers.

Key responsibilities include:

Conducting regular reviews of children’s care plans to ensure their needs are met. Facilitating Child Looked After Reviews and ensuring that children and young people are actively involved in the process. Working collaboratively with social workers, families, and external agencies to promote best practices in child welfare. Monitoring compliance with statutory requirements and making recommendations for improvements. Providing support and training to staff on IRO responsibilities and best practices.

To be considered for this role, you must hold a Social Work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You should have significant experience working with children in care and a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004. Essential skills include excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex cases.

In addition to a competitive salary, Cheshire East offers a range of benefits including flexible working arrangements, ongoing professional development opportunities, and a supportive team environment. If you are committed to improving the lives of children and young people and meet the qualifications outlined, we encourage you to apply and join us in making a positive impact.
