We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Manchester. This vital role focuses on ensuring that the needs and rights of children and young people in care are at the forefront of our service delivery. As a Children’s IRO, you will be responsible for chairing reviews for children in care, ensuring their voices are heard, and advocating for their best interests in line with statutory requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Chairing statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring that all relevant information is gathered and considered. Monitoring the quality of care plans and ensuring that they are implemented effectively. Advocating for the rights of children and young people, ensuring their views are represented in decision-making processes. Collaborating with social workers, educators, and other professionals to enhance the welfare and outcomes for children. Providing guidance and support to families and foster carers, fostering positive relationships and communication.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Proven experience in child protection and working with children in care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families. Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
