Plymouth City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that the voices of children and young people are heard and their rights are upheld within the care system. You will work closely with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to facilitate high-quality reviews of care plans, ensuring they are child-centered and effectively meet the individual needs of each child.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting regular independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice standards. Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback. Writing comprehensive reports and making recommendations to improve outcomes for children. Supporting the development and implementation of child-centered policies and practices.The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills including:
A recognized social work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Proven experience working with children and families in a social work context. Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
