Are you a passionate and dedicated social worker looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people? Suffolk County Council is seeking a Children’s Social Worker (SSW) to join our Looked After Children (LAC) Team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide support and guidance to vulnerable children in the foster care system, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development.

As a Children’s SSW in the LAC Team, your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting assessments and developing care plans tailored to the individual needs of children and young people. Building strong relationships with children, families, and other professionals to promote positive outcomes. Monitoring and reviewing the progress of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective interventions and services. Maintaining accurate and timely records in line with statutory requirements and best practice.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., BA/MA in Social Work) and registration with Social Work England. Experience working with children and families, particularly within the looked after children framework. Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively. Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in social work.
