We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Help and Protection Team in Buckinghamshire. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families by promoting safety, stability and positive outcomes through high-quality social work practice.

You will manage a varied caseload involving children who may be experiencing neglect, abuse or other safeguarding concerns. Your responsibilities will include completing assessments, developing and reviewing child protection plans, undertaking statutory visits, preparing reports and presenting information at conferences, reviews and court hearings. You will work in partnership with children, parents, carers and professionals across education, health, police and other services to identify risks, strengthen families and ensure that children’s voices remain central to decision-making.

The successful candidate will be confident in managing complex and sensitive cases, applying relevant legislation, policy and procedures, and making balanced, evidence-based decisions. You will maintain accurate case records, contribute to effective risk management and ensure that all interventions are purposeful, proportionate and focused on achieving sustainable change.

You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England, with relevant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, safeguarding or child protection. Experience of working within a statutory setting and knowledge of the Children Act, child protection procedures and court processes are essential. You will also need strong assessment, report-writing and communication skills, together with the resilience and professional judgement required for challenging work.

You will undertake statutory visits, maintain accurate case records and ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decisions.

The role will involve working closely with parents and carers, schools, health professionals, police, legal services and other partner agencies. You will contribute to strategy discussions, child protection conferences, care planning meetings and court proceedings where required. You will be expected to analyse information effectively, exercise sound professional judgement and take timely action to safeguard children from harm.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience of working in children’s social care, particularly within help and protection, child in need or child protection services, is essential. You should have a sound understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding practice, together with strong assessment, report-writing and communication skills.

You will be organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of practice.
