Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practitioner to join our Children with Disabilities Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified social worker who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with disabilities and their families. In this role, you will be responsible for leading complex casework, providing supervision to junior staff, and ensuring that our services meet the highest standards of care and support.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Managing a caseload of children with disabilities, conducting assessments, and developing tailored care plans. Providing expert guidance and support to social work colleagues, helping them to develop their skills and knowledge. Collaborating with multi-agency partners to ensure a holistic approach to care and support for children and their families. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice guidelines in all aspects of service delivery. Participating in training and development initiatives to enhance team performance and service outcomes.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England. Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly with children with disabilities. Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound decisions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
