Sefton MBC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. This pivotal role involves overseeing and ensuring the quality of care planning for children and young people in the local authority's care. You will play a crucial part in promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and ensuring their voices are heard in the decision-making processes that affect their lives.

As an Independent Reviewing Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children and young people in care, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices. Facilitating multi-agency meetings and discussions to promote effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders. Providing expert advice and guidance to social workers and other professionals regarding care planning and review processes. Ensuring that the views and wishes of children and young people are central to the review process. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for improvements.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in child protection and working with children in care. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and practice frameworks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
