Join our dedicated team in Gateshead as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) specializing in Fostering. We are seeking a qualified social worker who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people in care. This vital role involves overseeing the quality of care provided to children in foster placements and ensuring their voices are heard and respected. You will work collaboratively with foster carers, social workers, and other professionals to ensure that each child's care plan is effectively implemented and regularly reviewed.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting regular reviews of foster care arrangements to assess the effectiveness and suitability of placements. Facilitating meetings with children, foster carers, and relevant stakeholders to gather feedback and insights. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and local authority policies. Providing expert guidance and support to foster carers to enhance the quality of care provided. Writing comprehensive reports and presenting findings to relevant parties.The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in child protection and fostering services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to child-centered practice.
