An experienced and committed Children’s Social Worker is required to join an Early Intervention Team supporting children, young people and families across Rhondda Cynon Taf. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by working alongside families at an early stage, helping to build resilience, improve outcomes and reduce the need for more intensive statutory intervention.

You will undertake high-quality assessments, identify strengths and risks, and work collaboratively with children, parents and carers to develop effective plans. Your responsibilities will include providing purposeful direct work, reviewing progress, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and ensuring that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to decision-making.

The role involves close partnership working with education, health, housing, police and voluntary-sector services. You will contribute to professional meetings, share information appropriately and coordinate support around the child and family. Accurate, timely recording and the preparation of clear reports will be essential, as will your ability to manage a varied caseload in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Care Wales. You should have experience of working with children and families, ideally within early intervention, safeguarding or a statutory social work setting. We are looking for someone who can assess risk confidently, communicate effectively with a wide range of people and use professional curiosity to achieve positive change.

You will need strong organisational skills, sound professional judgement and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, partnership working and continuous professional development is essential. A full driving licence and access to transport may be required for visiting families across the area.

In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise within a supportive service focused on improving outcomes for children and families. If you are passionate about early help and possess the skills to deliver compassionate, strengths-based social work, we would welcome your application.

An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Social Worker at Grade 11 level to support children, adults and families to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes. You will manage a varied caseload, complete assessments and contribute to proportionate, person-centred plans that reflect individual needs, strengths, risks and desired outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include undertaking statutory assessments and reviews, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns, preparing clear and accurate reports, and maintaining timely case records. You will work collaboratively with individuals, families, carers and professionals across health, education, housing, police and other services, ensuring that information is shared appropriately and that people remain at the centre of decision-making.

You will be expected to use professional judgement when assessing risk, make evidence-based recommendations and take effective action where intervention or protection is required. The role also involves contributing to meetings, reviews and court-related processes where necessary, advocating for people’s rights and promoting independence, wellbeing, equality and inclusion. You may also support colleagues through advice, joint working and the sharing of good practice.
