Worcestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic social work team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and their rights are upheld within the child welfare system. You will lead the review process for children in care, assessing their needs and ensuring that their care plans are effective and in their best interests.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children and young people in care. Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to gather insights and feedback. Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Providing advocacy and support to children and young people, ensuring their voices are central to decision-making. Preparing reports and presenting findings to relevant stakeholders, including local authorities and safeguarding boards.The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, CSS, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly in a reviewing or advocacy role. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families. As an IRO, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the best interests of children and young people are at the heart of all decisions made regarding their care plans. You will provide independent oversight and scrutiny of care plans, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and promoting positive outcomes for children.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting independent reviews of care plans and ensuring that they are child-centered and outcome-focused. Facilitating multi-agency meetings and engaging with children, families, and professionals to gather relevant information. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care plans, making recommendations for improvements where necessary. Ensuring that the voice of the child is heard and considered in all decision-making processes. Providing advice and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the care of children.The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A relevant social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England (SWE) or equivalent professional body. Significant experience in child protection and working within children's services. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make sound judgments based on evidence.
