Are you an experienced social worker with a passion for safeguarding children? Barnsley Council is seeking a dedicated Lead Child Protection Practitioner to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the delivery of high-quality child protection services, ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people in our community. Your expertise will guide a team of social workers, providing support, supervision, and training to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
As a Lead Child Protection Practitioner, your key responsibilities will include:
Leading and managing child protection assessments and interventions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Providing expert advice and guidance to social work staff on complex cases, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborating with multi-agency partners to develop and implement effective safeguarding strategies. Conducting regular case reviews and audits to ensure the highest standards of practice are maintained. Contributing to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in child protection.The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding, with a proven track record of managing complex cases. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
