Are you a passionate and dedicated social worker looking to make a significant impact in the lives of children in care? Barnsley Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with children and families, ensuring that their needs are met and that they receive the best possible support. Your expertise will be vital in helping vulnerable children thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.

As a Senior Social Worker in the Child In Care team, your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and their families to identify needs and risks. Developing and implementing effective care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Providing supervision and support to junior staff and social work students. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with legislative requirements. Engaging with external agencies and stakeholders to advocate for the best interests of children.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant post-qualifying experience in child protection or children in care. Strong assessment and analytical skills with a proven ability to manage complex cases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working collaboratively.
