An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Social Worker to join a dedicated Children and Families team, supporting children who are assessed as being in need of additional help and protection. You will work alongside children, young people, parents and carers to understand their circumstances, identify strengths and risks, and develop effective plans that promote positive outcomes.
You will manage a varied caseload in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and professional standards. Key responsibilities will include completing high-quality assessments, preparing and reviewing child in need plans, undertaking statutory visits, responding to safeguarding concerns and contributing to multi-agency meetings. You will ensure that children’s voices are central to decision-making and that their wishes, feelings and lived experiences inform all aspects of your work.
The role will involve building constructive relationships with families and partner agencies, including education, health, early help and specialist services. You will maintain accurate and timely case records, prepare clear reports and provide evidence-based recommendations. Where risks escalate, you will take appropriate action and contribute to child protection processes, legal planning and applications where required.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Recent experience of working with children and families in a statutory setting is essential, particularly within child in need or safeguarding services. You should have a sound understanding of assessment and care planning, relevant legislation and the professional standards expected in children’s social care.
We are looking for a confident, resilient and reflective practitioner who can manage competing priorities while maintaining a child-centred approach. Strong communication, recording and report-writing skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively and make well-informed decisions. A commitment to equality, inclusion and continuous professional development is also required. The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and opportunities to strengthen their practice.
