The Isle of Wight Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our Children & Families team. This vital role is focused on ensuring that children in care receive the highest standard of support and advocacy. You will be responsible for leading and facilitating statutory reviews for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. As an Independent Reviewing Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children and young people in care, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Facilitating multi-agency meetings to evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and identify areas for improvement. Providing independent oversight and scrutiny to safeguard the welfare of children and young people. Collaborating with social workers, families, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes. Documenting and reporting on review outcomes, ensuring transparency and accountability.The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A relevant social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding practices. Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex situations.
