Lewisham Council is seeking an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will ensure that the care plans for children in care are robust, effective, and uphold the highest standards of practice. Your expertise will help guide our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in our community.
As an Independent Reviewing Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting regular reviews of care plans for children in care to ensure they are meeting individual needs. Facilitating and chairing multi-agency meetings, promoting collaboration among stakeholders. Providing professional oversight and challenge to ensure that the voice of the child is central to all decisions. Monitoring the effectiveness of care placements and making recommendations for changes where necessary. Maintaining accurate records and documentation in compliance with statutory requirements.The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Current Social Work England registration. Significant experience in child protection and working with children in care. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
