We are seeking an experienced and committed Social Worker to join a Family Help service in Hertfordshire. This is an opportunity to support children, young people and their families through timely, strengths-based intervention, helping them to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
You will work with families experiencing a range of challenges, completing assessments, identifying needs and risks, and developing effective plans in partnership with children, parents and other professionals. Your responsibilities will include providing purposeful direct work, reviewing progress, responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and ensuring that the child’s voice remains central to all decisions.
Working collaboratively with schools, health services, early help practitioners, social care colleagues and community organisations, you will coordinate support and contribute to effective multi-agency planning. You will maintain accurate, timely case records and reports, attend meetings and reviews, and use professional judgement to escalate concerns or request further intervention where necessary.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You should have relevant experience of working with children, young people and families, alongside a sound understanding of safeguarding, child protection procedures, assessment frameworks and the legislative context of children’s social care in England. Experience of family help, early intervention or statutory social work would be advantageous.
You will be a confident communicator who can build respectful relationships, manage competing priorities and work effectively in a challenging environment. A reflective, solution-focused approach and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice are essential. You must be able to produce clear written work, make evidence-based decisions and participate positively in supervision and ongoing professional development. The role may require travel across Hertfordshire, so the ability to travel between locations is desirable.
