Local Authority Designated Officer - Durham
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join our team in Durham. This pivotal role is vital in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people within our community. As a LADO, you will be responsible for overseeing allegations against individuals working with children and ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed to protect those in our care.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and investigating allegations against staff and volunteers in accordance with statutory guidance.
- Providing advice and guidance to local authorities, schools, and other organizations on safeguarding practices.
- Collaborating with multi-agency partners to ensure effective safeguarding measures are in place.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all investigations and outcomes.
- Delivering training and awareness sessions on safeguarding issues to staff and stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need essential qualifications and skills, including:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Significant experience in child protection or safeguarding roles.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
