Children's SW - The Royal Borough of Greenwich
We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a dedicated team supporting children, young people and their families. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by promoting positive outcomes, safeguarding children and helping families build secure and sustainable futures.
You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments and developing effective plans in partnership with children, parents, carers and other professionals. You will undertake statutory visits, contribute to child protection enquiries, prepare reports for reviews and panels, and ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decisions.
The role will involve working with children and young people across a range of circumstances, including those requiring early help, children in need, children subject to protection plans and children looked after. You will assess risk, respond promptly to safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action where necessary. You will also contribute to permanence planning, care proceedings, placement stability and successful transitions into adulthood.
Effective partnership working is essential. You will collaborate with schools, health professionals, police, foster carers, education providers and commissioned services to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes. Accurate recording, sound professional judgement and clear communication will be key to your success.
You must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Previous experience of working with children and families in a statutory or relevant social care setting is desirable, together with a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, assessment frameworks and care planning. Newly qualified social workers with suitable placement experience may also be considered.
We are looking for an empathetic, resilient and organised professional who can manage competing priorities, work confidently under pressure and demonstrate a commitment to anti-discriminatory and strengths-based practice. In return, you will receive regular supervision, opportunities for professional development and the support of a collaborative, experienced team.
