Children's AP - South Tyneside
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Children’s Advanced Practitioner to join a dedicated social care team supporting children, young people and their families. This is an opportunity to provide skilled social work practice, promote positive outcomes and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and child-centred services.
You will manage a complex caseload and undertake high-quality assessments, planning and reviews in line with statutory requirements. Your responsibilities will include identifying risk, safeguarding children, preparing reports, contributing to legal proceedings where required and ensuring that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to decision-making. You will work closely with families, schools, health professionals, carers and other partner agencies to develop coordinated plans that promote stability, wellbeing and permanence.
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will provide professional guidance and support to colleagues, helping to develop confident, reflective and evidence-informed practice. You may support the induction of new staff, contribute to case discussions, facilitate learning and provide advice on complex safeguarding and social work matters. You will also be expected to promote continuous improvement and help ensure that practice reflects relevant legislation, national guidance and local procedures.
You must hold a recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England, together with substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s social care. Experience of managing complex cases, working within statutory frameworks and supporting children subject to child protection, care or court processes is essential. Strong assessment, report-writing, communication and organisational skills are required, alongside the ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound professional judgements.
The successful candidate will be committed to anti-discriminatory practice, safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and families. A full driving licence and access to transport may be required, depending on service needs. In return, you will have access to professional development, reflective supervision and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to children’s lives.
