Senior Practitioner - Complex & Enduring Team - Birmingham
An experienced and motivated Senior Practitioner is required to join a Complex and Enduring Team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker to support adults with severe and enduring mental health needs, helping them to achieve greater independence, stability and quality of life.
You will manage a complex caseload and undertake comprehensive assessments, reviews and safeguarding enquiries in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards. Working in a strengths-based and person-centred way, you will develop, implement and review care and support plans, ensuring that individuals, families and carers are meaningfully involved in decision-making. You will also contribute to risk management, crisis planning and multi-agency arrangements where appropriate.
The role will involve close partnership working with health professionals, housing providers, advocacy services, community organisations and other agencies. You will provide professional advice and guidance to colleagues, support effective practice within the team and contribute to service development. As a Senior Practitioner, you may also be responsible for mentoring less experienced social workers, supporting students and assisting with reflective supervision and quality assurance activity.
Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will have substantial post-qualifying experience in adult social care, mental health or a related complex needs service, together with a sound understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and safeguarding procedures. Experience of working with people with enduring mental health conditions, multiple needs or fluctuating capacity is highly desirable.
You will be an excellent communicator with strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills. The ability to manage competing priorities, make defensible professional decisions and work calmly in challenging situations is essential. A commitment to equality, safeguarding, continuous improvement and collaborative practice is also required. This role is subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including verification of professional registration.
