Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our Children’s Safeguarding Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people in our community, providing you with the opportunity to make a real difference.

As a member of our Children’s Safeguarding Team, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting assessments and developing child protection plans in line with statutory requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with families, children, and multi-agency partners to promote the welfare of children.
  • Carrying out home visits to assess and monitor the safety and needs of children.
  • Providing support and guidance to families in crisis, ensuring appropriate interventions are made.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records of your work in accordance with local policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A relevant social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Proven experience working in children’s services, particularly in safeguarding roles.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills with the ability to make sound judgments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to working with families.
