Children's IRO - Darlington

Darlington Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that the views and needs of children in care are at the forefront of our service delivery, promoting their welfare and safeguarding their rights.
As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people in care.
- Facilitating meetings and ensuring that children's voices are heard and considered in decision-making processes.
- Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Building strong relationships with children, families, and professionals to promote collaborative working.
- Providing expert advice and guidance to social workers and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in children's social care, particularly in a reviewing or quality assurance role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
- A thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in child welfare.
