Nottingham City - Independent Reviewing Officer
Nottingham City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. This pivotal role will ensure that children and young people in care receive the highest standard of oversight and advocacy. As an IRO, you will facilitate and lead reviews, ensuring that the views, wishes, and feelings of children are central to their care planning and decision-making processes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.
- Collaborating with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to develop and monitor care plans.
- Engaging with children and families to gather their views and ensure their voices are heard.
- Identifying and escalating any safeguarding concerns or issues related to the welfare of children.
- Providing written reports and recommendations to inform decision-making and improve outcomes for children.
The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in child protection and looked-after children services.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to advocate for children and ensure their voices are prioritized in all decisions.
