Children's IRO - Liverpool
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in Liverpool. This vital role involves ensuring that children and young people in care have their voices heard and their rights upheld. As an IRO, you will be responsible for chairing reviews, ensuring that care plans are effectively implemented, and that the best interests of the child are always prioritized. Your expertise will be crucial in promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Chairing statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Monitoring the quality of care provided to children and advocating for their needs and wishes.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
- Providing expert advice and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the care of children.
- Preparing and presenting reports, ensuring accurate documentation and record-keeping.
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly within the looked-after children sector.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
