Children's IRO - Durham
Durham County Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. This pivotal role is essential in ensuring that the voices of children and young people in care are heard and their needs are met. As a Children’s IRO, you will conduct regular reviews of care plans, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and best practices, while advocating for the rights and needs of children in the care system.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Chairing and facilitating statutory review meetings for children in care.
- Monitoring and evaluating care plans to ensure they meet the needs of children.
- Building strong relationships with children, families, and professionals to promote collaborative working.
- Ensuring that children’s voices are central to the review process.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on safeguarding and care planning.
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Experience working within children’s services, particularly in a reviewing or advocacy capacity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
- Sound knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance relating to children in care.
