Social Worker - Child Protection Team - Wokingham

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our Child Protection Team. In this vital role, you will work collaboratively with families, children, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children in our community. Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and their families to identify risks and needs.
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing child protection plans in partnership with families and other professionals.
  • Providing direct support and interventions to children and families, ensuring their voices are heard in the decision-making process.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation in accordance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Participating in team meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings as required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience in child protection and safeguarding practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.
