We are seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a busy statutory children’s services team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children, young people and their families by providing skilled, child-centred social work practice and ensuring that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decisions.

You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments, preparing and reviewing care plans, and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns. You will undertake statutory visits, contribute to child protection enquiries and conferences, and work closely with children, parents, carers, schools, health professionals and other partner agencies. The role will also involve preparing clear reports, maintaining accurate case records and presenting evidence at meetings and court hearings when required.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker with current registration and relevant experience within children’s social care. You should have a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures, relevant legislation, looked-after children’s processes and permanency planning. Experience of working within a Children in Need, child protection, looked-after children or care proceedings team would be advantageous. Knowledge of local safeguarding arrangements and practice expectations in Kent is desirable.

You will need excellent communication, assessment and analytical skills, together with the ability to build positive relationships in complex and challenging circumstances. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, professional curiosity and continuous improvement is essential. You must be organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of practice.

A valid Social Work England registration, recognised social work qualification and satisfactory pre-employment checks will be required. The role may involve travel to visits, meetings and partner agencies, so the ability to travel as needed is essential. In return, this position offers the opportunity to work within a supportive professional environment, develop your practice and contribute to positive outcomes for children and families.
