Children's SW - CSW Team - Kent
We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Child in Need and Child Protection team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children, young people and families by providing purposeful, relationship-based social work that promotes safety, stability and positive outcomes.
You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments and developing clear, outcome-focused plans in partnership with children, parents, carers and other professionals. Your responsibilities will include responding to safeguarding concerns, undertaking statutory visits, contributing to strategy discussions and child protection conferences, and progressing plans for children in need or at risk of harm.
You will be expected to build effective working relationships with families and partner agencies, including education, health, police and community services. You will advocate for children’s wishes and feelings, identify risk and protective factors, and take appropriate action where concerns escalate. The role may also involve care proceedings, permanence planning and supporting children who are looked after or transitioning between services.
Accurate, timely case recording is essential, alongside the ability to produce high-quality assessments, reports and chronologies. You will contribute to professional meetings, review progress regularly and ensure that interventions remain focused on the child’s needs. You should be confident managing competing priorities, working under pressure and making sound, evidence-based decisions.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience of statutory children’s social work, safeguarding and child protection is required, together with a sound understanding of relevant legislation, guidance and practice standards. A current driving licence and the ability to travel to undertake visits and attend meetings may be necessary.
We are looking for someone who is reflective, resilient and committed to continuous professional development. In return, you will have access to regular supervision, professional support and opportunities to develop your practice within a collaborative service dedicated to improving outcomes for children and families.
