Children's SW - CWD Team - Kent
We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children with Disabilities (CWD) team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and young people with disabilities, helping them achieve positive outcomes and ensuring their voices, wishes and feelings remain at the centre of all decisions.
You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments, contributing to care planning and undertaking regular reviews. You will work in partnership with children, parents, carers and professionals to identify needs, agree appropriate support and promote children’s safety, wellbeing and development. The role will include safeguarding activity, preparing reports, attending meetings and contributing to multi-agency planning.
The successful candidate will build effective relationships with families and colleagues, provide child-centred advice and intervention, and ensure that practice complies with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and professional standards. You will be expected to maintain accurate and timely records, manage competing priorities and contribute to service improvements. Experience of working with children with disabilities, complex needs or multiple agencies would be highly beneficial.
You must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Applicants should have current or recent experience in children’s social care, including assessment, safeguarding and care planning. A sound understanding of the Children Act, relevant disability legislation and strengths-based, restorative practice is essential. You should also be confident working with risk, challenging situations and sensitive family circumstances.
We are looking for someone who is reflective, resilient and organised, with excellent communication and report-writing skills. You will need to work effectively both independently and as part of a professional team, using supervision constructively and maintaining a clear focus on improving outcomes for children and families. A valid driving licence and the ability to travel to meet children and families may be required.
This role offers the opportunity to develop your practice within a supportive environment while contributing to inclusive, child-focused services. If you are passionate about helping children with disabilities reach their potential, we would welcome your application.
