An experienced Children’s Social Worker is required to join a Children with Disabilities (CWD) team in Essex. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and young people with disabilities, complex needs and safeguarding concerns, while supporting their families to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments, reviews and plans in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures. Your responsibilities will include identifying children’s needs, assessing risk, developing effective support packages and coordinating multi-agency interventions. You will contribute to child protection processes where required and ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decision-making.

The role involves working closely with families, schools, health professionals, commissioned services and other partner agencies. You will undertake regular visits, maintain accurate and timely records, prepare reports for meetings and panels, and ensure that plans are reviewed and updated appropriately. You will also support transitions into adulthood and help families access suitable services, short breaks and other resources.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Previous experience of working with children and families, preferably within a children with disabilities, safeguarding or statutory social work setting, is essential. You should have a sound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, the Care Act 2014 and the Equality Act 2010.

You will need strong assessment, communication, analytical and report-writing skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently as part of a professional network. A commitment to strengths-based, relationship-focused practice is essential. You must be able to travel within the area as required and hold a valid driving licence, with access to suitable transport.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to improved outcomes for children and families while developing your practice within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
