Children's TM - CWD Team - Halton
An opportunity is available for an experienced Children’s Team Manager to lead a specialist Children with Disabilities (CWD) social work team. You will provide effective leadership, professional guidance and operational oversight, ensuring children and young people receive safe, timely and effective support tailored to their individual needs.
You will manage and support a team of qualified social workers and family support professionals, promoting high standards of practice and positive outcomes for children and their families. Responsibilities will include allocating and reviewing work, overseeing assessments, care planning and safeguarding activity, monitoring performance, and ensuring that statutory duties are met within required timescales.
Working closely with parents, carers, education, health, commissioning services and other partner agencies, you will help develop coordinated packages of support. You will contribute to complex decision-making, manage risk effectively and ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all planning. The role will also involve chairing or contributing to meetings, responding to escalating concerns and supporting service development.
You will be a qualified social worker with current professional registration and substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, ideally including work with children with disabilities. Previous experience of supervising or managing social work staff is essential, together with a sound understanding of safeguarding, child protection, permanence planning, relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
We are looking for a confident and reflective leader who can motivate others, make sound professional judgements and maintain focus in a demanding environment. You will need excellent communication, organisation and partnership-working skills, alongside the ability to analyse complex information and manage competing priorities. A commitment to inclusive, strengths-based and outcome-focused practice is essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a supportive team culture, continuous improvement and the delivery of high-quality services for children, young people and their families. A valid driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for undertaking visits and attending meetings.
