Children's SW - LAC Team - Brent
We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a dedicated Looked After Children (LAC) team. This is an opportunity to support children and young people who are unable to live with their birth families, helping them achieve stability, security and positive outcomes.
You will hold and manage a caseload of children in care, completing assessments, care planning and statutory visits in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards. You will ensure that each child’s needs, wishes and feelings are central to decision-making, while promoting their welfare, development, education and health.
The role will involve working closely with foster carers, residential providers, families, schools, health professionals, independent reviewing officers and other partner agencies. You will prepare high-quality reports for reviews, court proceedings and other meetings, contribute to permanency planning, and ensure that plans are regularly reviewed and progressed. You will also support children preparing for permanence or leaving care, including those transitioning into adulthood.
You must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience of working with looked after children, care leavers or children and families in a statutory setting is essential. You should have a sound understanding of safeguarding, corporate parenting responsibilities, care planning, permanence options and relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong assessment, recording and report-writing skills, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently within a multidisciplinary environment. You will be committed to anti-discriminatory practice, participation and improving outcomes for children and young people. A calm, resilient and solution-focused approach is essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships with children, families and professionals.
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference to children in care within a supportive and professionally focused team. You will be expected to participate in supervision, ongoing learning and service development, maintaining high standards of practice and accountability at all times.
