Social Worker / Advance Practitioner - LAC & Permanency, Care Planning Team - Brent
We are seeking an experienced and committed Qualified Social Worker to join a Children Looked After (LAC) and Permanency Care Planning Team. This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference to children and young people by securing safe, stable and nurturing care arrangements that meet their individual needs and long-term aspirations.
You will manage a varied caseload of children looked after, completing high-quality assessments, care planning and statutory reviews. You will work closely with children, young people, parents, carers and wider family networks to ensure that their wishes and feelings inform decision-making. Responsibilities will include progressing permanence plans, undertaking direct work, preparing reports for reviews and panels, and contributing to applications for reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship or adoption where appropriate.
The role requires effective partnership working with education, health, fostering and adoption services, legal professionals and other agencies. You will maintain accurate case records, meet statutory timescales and demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding, corporate parenting and relevant children’s social care legislation. You will also contribute to assessments of risk, placement stability and support needs, taking timely action where a child’s welfare may be compromised.
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Significant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, particularly within looked-after children, permanence or care planning services, is essential. You will be confident working within a statutory framework, able to manage competing priorities and skilled in communicating with children and adults from diverse backgrounds.
In return, you will join a supportive, collaborative team with access to regular supervision, professional development and opportunities to strengthen your expertise in permanence planning. If you are passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and can bring sound professional judgement, resilience and a child-centred approach, we would welcome your application.
