We are seeking an experienced and committed Children’s Social Worker to join a Looked After Children (LAC) team. You will work with children and young people who are in care, helping to safeguard their welfare, promote positive outcomes and ensure their voices are heard in all decisions affecting their lives.

Your responsibilities will include managing a caseload of looked-after children, completing assessments and care planning, undertaking statutory visits and reviews, and maintaining accurate, timely records. You will work closely with children, families, foster carers, residential providers, schools, health professionals and other partner agencies to develop and review effective care plans.

You will support children to maintain safe and meaningful relationships, achieve stability in their placements and make progress in education, health and emotional wellbeing. The role will also involve contributing to permanence planning, preparing reports for reviews and legal proceedings, identifying safeguarding concerns and taking appropriate action in line with legislation, policy and professional standards.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration. You should have demonstrable experience in children’s social care, preferably within a looked-after children, care planning or children in care service. Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, care planning regulations and safeguarding procedures, is essential.

You will be confident managing competing priorities, making sound professional judgements and working effectively with children and families experiencing complex circumstances. Strong communication, assessment, report-writing and relationship-building skills are required, together with a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and improving outcomes for children and young people.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required due to the nature of the role. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to make a lasting difference while working within a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment.
