Children's SW - CIN Team - Cheshire East
An experienced Children’s Social Worker is required to join a Children in Need (CIN) team, supporting children, young people and families to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes. This is an opportunity to work within a child-centred service that values professional curiosity, effective partnership working and evidence-based practice.
You will manage a varied caseload involving children subject to child in need plans, alongside cases requiring focused assessment and intervention. Your responsibilities will include undertaking high-quality assessments, identifying risk and protective factors, developing clear plans with families, and reviewing progress regularly. You will ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decision-making and that their welfare is safeguarded at all times.
The role will involve working closely with parents, carers, schools, health professionals, police and other partner agencies. You will coordinate meetings, contribute to multi-agency plans, prepare accurate reports and maintain timely, detailed case recordings. Where appropriate, you will support families to access services and help prevent situations from escalating, while taking decisive action when concerns about safety or wellbeing increase.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You should have relevant post-qualification experience in children’s social care, including assessment, child protection and direct work with children and families. Experience of working within a CIN or safeguarding environment is highly desirable. You will need strong communication, organisation and analytical skills, together with the confidence to make balanced professional judgements in complex situations.
A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, continual professional development and collaborative working is essential. You must be able to manage competing priorities, work flexibly and travel to undertake visits and attend meetings when required. In return, you will have access to regular supervision, professional support and opportunities to develop your practice within a supportive children’s services environment.
