We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a busy Children in Need (CIN) team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children, young people and their families by providing purposeful, relationship-based social work that promotes safety, stability and positive outcomes.

You will manage a varied caseload involving children assessed as being in need of support, protection or intervention. Your responsibilities will include completing high-quality assessments, developing and reviewing child in need plans, undertaking statutory visits and preparing clear, analytical reports. You will work closely with children and families to understand their circumstances, identify strengths and risks, and agree practical plans that support sustainable change.

The role will involve working collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, health professionals, early help services, police and other partner agencies. You will contribute to safeguarding enquiries where required, respond appropriately to concerns about neglect or abuse, and ensure that the child’s voice, wishes and feelings remain central to all decision-making. You will also maintain accurate case records, meet statutory timescales and participate in meetings, reviews and legal planning processes when necessary.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You should have recent experience within children’s social care, ideally in a Children in Need, safeguarding or child protection setting, together with a sound understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and social work practice. Experience of managing a complex caseload and producing high-quality assessments and reports is essential.

You will need excellent communication, organisation and professional judgement, alongside the ability to build effective relationships in challenging circumstances. A child-centred, strengths-based approach is essential, as is the confidence to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The role requires a valid driving licence and access to suitable transport for visiting children and families across the local area.
