Children's SW - CIN Team - Halton
We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children in Need (CIN) team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families by providing purposeful, relationship-based social work that promotes safety, stability and positive outcomes.
You will manage a varied caseload involving children in need, children subject to child protection plans and cases requiring skilled assessment and intervention. Your responsibilities will include undertaking assessments, identifying risk and need, developing and reviewing child-focused plans, and ensuring that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decision-making.
You will work closely with parents, carers, schools, health professionals, police and other partner agencies to coordinate effective support. The role will involve visiting children and families, completing statutory reviews, responding to safeguarding concerns, contributing to meetings and conferences, and progressing cases in line with relevant legislation, policy and professional standards. Where necessary, you will also prepare reports and provide evidence for legal proceedings.
Accurate and timely recording is essential, as is the ability to prioritise competing demands and manage a caseload effectively. You will be expected to analyse complex information, make sound professional judgements, challenge appropriately and use supervision to reflect on practice and improve outcomes. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and working respectfully with diverse families is also required.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Previous experience in children’s social care, particularly within a CIN, safeguarding or child protection setting, is essential. You should have a sound understanding of relevant legislation and guidance, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the resilience to work effectively in a demanding environment. A valid driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for home visits.
