An experienced Social Worker is required to join a Child Protection and Children in Need (CP/CIN) team, supporting children, young people and families to achieve positive and lasting outcomes. You will manage a varied caseload, completing high-quality assessments, developing effective plans and ensuring that children’s welfare remains central to all decisions.

You will undertake statutory social work in line with relevant legislation, guidance and safeguarding procedures. Responsibilities will include responding to referrals, assessing risk and need, preparing reports, participating in strategy discussions and child protection conferences, and contributing to reviews and legal proceedings where required. You will work collaboratively with families and professionals across education, health, police and other services, promoting strengths-based and relationship-focused practice.

The successful candidate will be confident in managing competing priorities and making balanced, evidence-based decisions in complex and sometimes challenging circumstances. You will communicate clearly with children and families, advocate for their wishes and feelings, and ensure that their voices are reflected in plans and interventions. Accurate recording, effective time management and a commitment to reflective practice are essential.

You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Recent experience within children’s social care, particularly child protection or children in need work, is required, together with a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, statutory processes and risk assessment. Experience of working within a fast-paced frontline team and preparing work for court or other formal proceedings would be advantageous.

You will be supported by experienced managers and colleagues, with access to supervision, professional development and opportunities to strengthen your practice. A current driving licence and the ability to travel between locations may be required. If you are committed to improving outcomes for children and families and can bring compassion, resilience and professional curiosity to your work, this role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
