You will hold and manage a caseload of UASC, completing comprehensive assessments and developing high-quality care plans that reflect each child’s individual needs, wishes and circumstances. You will work closely with foster carers, residential staff, education providers, health professionals, legal representatives, immigration services and other partner agencies to ensure coordinated support and effective outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking statutory visits, contributing to reviews, preparing court and assessment reports, responding to safeguarding concerns and ensuring that all recording and casework is completed accurately and within required timescales. You should have experience of working with children and families in a statutory setting, ideally including children looked after, care leavers or UASC. Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, safeguarding procedures and the asylum and immigration process would be advantageous.
You will need strong assessment, report-writing and communication skills, alongside the ability to build trusting relationships with young people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. A calm, resilient and trauma-informed approach is essential, as is the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
