Children's SW - Support Team - Powys
We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a supportive team working with children, young people and families across Powys. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping children achieve positive outcomes, remain safe and reach their full potential.
You will manage a varied caseload involving assessment, planning, intervention and review. Working in partnership with children, parents, carers, schools, health professionals and other agencies, you will identify needs, assess risk and develop effective plans that promote safety, stability and wellbeing. You will ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all decision-making.
The role will involve undertaking statutory assessments, preparing reports, attending meetings and reviews, and maintaining accurate, timely case records in line with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards. You may contribute to child protection enquiries, care planning, court work and arrangements for children in need or looked after. You will also support positive transitions and promote permanence wherever appropriate.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Care Wales, with relevant post-qualification experience in children’s social care. You should have a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures, the legislative framework and strengths-based practice. Experience of working with children and families in complex or high-risk situations is highly desirable.
You will need excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills, together with the ability to build trusting relationships and work confidently as part of a multi-disciplinary team. A commitment to equality, inclusion and anti-discriminatory practice is essential. You must be organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a child-centred approach.
A full driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required, as the role involves travel across the area. In return, you can expect a collaborative working environment, professional support and opportunities to develop your practice while contributing to improved outcomes for children and families.
