This is a rewarding role for a skilled professional who is committed to improving outcomes, promoting children’s welfare and working effectively within a statutory safeguarding environment.

You will undertake high-quality assessments of children and families, identifying needs, risks and strengths to inform proportionate plans and interventions. Responsibilities will include managing a varied caseload, completing assessments within required timescales, preparing clear reports and recommendations, and contributing to decisions that promote children’s safety and development.

The successful candidate will work closely with children, parents, carers and partner agencies, including education, health, police and specialist services. You will participate in strategy discussions, child protection processes, court proceedings and professional meetings where required. You will also ensure that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to all assessments and plans.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Care Wales. Previous experience in children’s social care, assessment and safeguarding is essential, along with a sound understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and child protection procedures. Experience of undertaking direct work with children and families, managing risk and producing high-quality written records is also required.

You will need excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills, together with the ability to make sound professional judgements in complex and demanding situations. A strengths-based, trauma-informed and child-centred approach is essential. You should be confident working independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team, and be committed to reflective practice, continuous learning and professional development.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and families while working within a supportive professional environment. A current driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for visiting families and attending meetings across the service area.
