Sefton Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in the Qualified Social Work field. In this vital role, you will ensure that the views and wishes of children in care are heard and acted upon, while promoting their best interests. You will work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, and other stakeholders to facilitate high-quality care planning and reviews for children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children in care, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Engaging with children, families, and professionals to gather feedback and insights that inform care planning.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Providing advice and support to social workers and other professionals on best practices in child welfare.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all reviews, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Extensive experience working with children and families in a social work capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and stakeholders.
