As a Children's IRO, you will be responsible for leading and conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating multi-agency meetings to review and assess individual care plans.
  • Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Providing advice and support to social workers, children, and families regarding care planning.
  • Championing the rights of children and ensuring their views are represented in decision-making processes.
  • Preparing reports and presenting findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you must possess a relevant social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. Additionally, you should have:

  • Experience in child protection and working with children in care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • A thorough understanding of legislation and best practices related to children's social care.
