Children's IRO - Leicestershire
Leicestershire County Council is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic Qualified Social Work team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the needs and rights of children in care are met through effective oversight and advocacy. You will facilitate independent reviews of care plans, ensuring that children’s voices are heard and that their best interests are prioritized in all decisions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting and chairing statutory reviews for children in care, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.
- Collaborating with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care planning.
- Assessing the quality of care provided to children and making recommendations for improvements.
- Providing support and guidance to children, ensuring they understand their rights and the review process.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A recognized social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly within the context of looked-after children.
- Strong understanding of legislation and guidance related to children in care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families.
