Cheshire West and Chester is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in the Qualified Social Work field. This role is pivotal in ensuring that children and young people in care receive the highest quality of support and advocacy. You will be responsible for chairing reviews for children in care, ensuring their voices are heard, and that their care plans are effectively implemented.

As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Chairing statutory reviews for children and young people in care, ensuring their views and wishes are central to the process.
  • Monitoring the quality of care and support provided to children, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Collaborating with social workers, education professionals, and other stakeholders to develop and review care plans.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on children's rights and safeguarding issues.
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of reviews and decisions made.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Demonstrable experience in children's social work, particularly in a statutory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child welfare and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to advocate for children and young people.
