Children's IRO - North Somerset

North Somerset Council is seeking a Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team. As an IRO, you will be responsible for chairing reviews for children in care, ensuring that their care plans are effective and that their best interests are always prioritized.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Chairing statutory reviews for children in care and ensuring that their views are central to the process.
- Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Building effective relationships with children, families, and professionals to promote positive outcomes.
- Providing expert advice and support to social work teams, ensuring high-quality practice.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of services through feedback and participation in service development initiatives.
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A recognised social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in children’s social work, particularly in child protection and care proceedings.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex situations effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to child-centered practice.
