Senior Social Worker - Assessment & Intervention Team - Southwark

Southwark Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Assessment & Intervention Team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality social work services to children and families, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will lead assessments, develop intervention plans, and provide support to families in need, working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to promote positive outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks.
  • Developing and implementing tailored intervention plans in partnership with families and other professionals.
  • Providing supervision and support to less experienced social workers and students.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with statutory requirements.
  • Participating in multi-agency meetings and contributing to safeguarding strategies.

To be considered for this role, you must have a recognized social work qualification (Degree in Social Work or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. Additionally, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in child protection or family support.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills with the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding practices.
