Reference: 669507

An experienced Children’s Social Worker is required to join a Children in Care (CIC) team supporting children and young people who are looked after, helping them to achieve positive outcomes and make safe, secure transitions into adulthood. This is an opportunity to contribute to high-quality, child-centred social work within a supportive and collaborative service in Buckinghamshire.

You will hold and manage a varied caseload, completing comprehensive assessments, developing and reviewing care plans, and ensuring that children’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to decision-making. You will undertake statutory visits, prepare reports for reviews and court proceedings, and work closely with foster carers, residential providers, families, schools, health professionals and other partner agencies.

The role will involve promoting placement stability, educational achievement, emotional wellbeing and meaningful family relationships. You will identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, assess risk, and take appropriate action to protect children from harm. You will also support pathway planning for young people approaching adulthood, contributing to plans that promote independence, resilience and long-term wellbeing.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Experience of working with children in care, care leavers or within statutory children’s services is essential, along with a sound understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding practice. You should be confident managing competing priorities, producing high-quality written work and presenting information clearly in meetings and formal settings.

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required for this role. You will be expected to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate professional curiosity and use evidence-informed practice to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people. Enhanced safeguarding checks will apply to the successful candidate.
