We are seeking a committed and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children in Care (CIC) team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and young people who are looked after, helping them to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential.

You will manage a varied caseload, undertaking high-quality assessments and care planning in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and local procedures. Your responsibilities will include visiting children regularly, reviewing their care plans, monitoring their progress and ensuring that their wishes, feelings and best interests remain central to all decisions.

You will work closely with foster carers, residential care providers, parents, schools, health professionals, independent reviewing officers and other partner agencies. The role will involve contributing to multi-agency meetings, preparing reports for reviews and court proceedings, supporting permanence planning and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns. You will also promote stability, education, health, identity and positive relationships for children in care, while supporting transitions into independence where appropriate.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. You will have demonstrable post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, preferably within a Children in Care, care planning or safeguarding environment. Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and statutory guidance for children looked after, is essential.

You will be confident managing competing priorities, maintaining accurate records and producing clear, analytical reports. Excellent communication, assessment and relationship-building skills are required, alongside the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, participation and improving outcomes for children is essential. A valid driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for this role.
