We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a dedicated Children in Care and Leaving Care Team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and young people who are looked after, helping them achieve stability, improve their outcomes and prepare positively for adulthood.

You will manage a varied caseload of children in care and care leavers, ensuring their needs are assessed, their voices are heard and their plans are regularly reviewed. Your responsibilities will include completing statutory visits, preparing and reviewing care plans, contributing to permanence planning, supporting placement stability and working proactively to safeguard children and young people from harm.

For young people preparing to leave care, you will develop and review pathway plans, helping them access education, employment, housing, health services and financial support. You will build trusting relationships with young people, carers, families and professionals, promoting independence while ensuring appropriate support remains in place.

You will work collaboratively with foster carers, residential providers, education, health, housing and other partner agencies. The role requires accurate recording, timely assessments, professional reports and confident participation in meetings, reviews and, where necessary, court proceedings. You will also contribute to service development and uphold strong standards of practice in line with legislation, statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Experience of working with children in care, care leavers or within a statutory children’s social work setting is highly desirable. You should have a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and leaving care duties, alongside strong assessment, planning, report-writing and communication skills.

You will be resilient, organised and committed to relationship-based practice. A valid driving licence and the ability to travel to meet children, young people and carers may be required. In return, you will join a supportive team with opportunities for professional development, reflective supervision and continued learning.
